Well this week sees the departure of Dan from these to New Zealand!! He'll missed but we take solace in the fact that he'll be back someday in the future. Organic Food Festival

I dropped into the Bristol Oganic Food Festival - but to be honest it was a bit crappy - but I did meet up with fellow Exec Member Ben Silvey and his good wife, so I guess it would classify as a Hanbury Event.

I was tempted to have an organic pint while there, for research purposes (see organic beer tent post!) but I was good and decided to go to the gym instead - and who said I had no will power.

The Organic Beer Tent at Greenbelt 2006 was fantastic. Colse, Claire and Ben all took turns behind the Bar serving nothing but organic booze! We had St Peter's and Weltons Summer Gold representing the Ales and Freedom Lager from Germany for those that prefer a jar of disco juice.

Beer and Hymns proved to be the suprise success of the venue with, at a guess - over 500 people singing along to all the old favs - we even got a complaint for being to loud - nice work team!

Hanbury Club Manifesto

We, the proud and the few, hereby declare our devotion to The Hanbury Club. We like it a lot. We really do.
We hereby form the World Wide chapter of the Hanbury Club.

All members of the Hanbury Club may or may not abide by the following code of discipline, depending upon their state of mind at the moment of inquiry: The Hanbury Manifesto is a way of life not a rule book. All Rules must be followed at all times, with the exception of circumstances where according to Rule III section A, a member may invoke Rule III section B.

Rule I

Section A
1. This is not a fraternal organization.
2. For that matter, neither is it identical, sororal, paternal, or maternal.

Section B
1. All prospective members shall be carefully screened by the Hanbury Club Screening Committee, namely The Exec..
2. The deliberated decisions of the Hanbury Exec regarding membership is final, all prospective members shall only be considered with backing from either; 4 non-exec members or 2 exec members (see Rule I, Section A, paragraph 1).

Section C
1. All people applying for membership must join under penalty compliance with Rule III, Section B, paragraph 1.
Section D
1. No non-humans whatsoever may be admitted to the Club unless they express interest in joining and pass the membership test as dictated by the club members.

Rule II

Section A
1. All petitions for withdrawal from the Club must be screened by the Penal Director.
2. In cases of withdrawal petition submission, a Penal Director shall be appointed. The member appointed as Penal Director shall be the member who is most qualified to deal with such petitions;

Rule III

Section A
1. The Unwritten Law.

Section B
1. The Unwritten Rule.

Rule Q

Section A
1. Although dress is not an option, all members must attend meetings well dressed mentally.
2. All meals are meetings, and vice versa, except where excepted by the Unwritten Law applies(Rule III, Section A, paragraph 1).

Rule DEF

Section A
1. All amendments, specifically, but not exclusively, must be submitted in wirting by members must be approved by two or more of the Exec.
2. No amendment(s) submitted otherwise will be approved (This is not to be confused with Rule III, Section A, paragraph 1. One is, however, welcome to confuse this with Rule III, Section B, paragraph 1).

Section B
1. All amendments to the Unwritten Law (Rule III, Section A), or the Unwritten Rule (Rule III, Section B), must be unwritten

Rule LXIX

1. Life is grand.

Apologies if in fact you currently live here (its not a bad or scary thing at all I promise) but the house holds a place in history... or at least it does for a few of us who collectively lived there for a period of our lives many moons ago.

It was the place where the 'Hanbury Club' was born... well I say born. Others words might be created, initiated, realised... but I'd like to think in some shape or form the Hanbury Club has always existed. At least in people's hearts.

We're exploring the possibilites of approaching the current occupiers and beginning a discussion around turning the house into a perminant monument to the Club, as well as a museum, coffee shop and somewhere to buy souveniers.

Firstly, we don't actually own a hot air balloon... so taking people for rides in one is not really on the cards. However if you are into such things then head down to Ashton Court anytime from today through till the 13th and get an eyeful of more balloons than you can muster in one sitting.

Greenbelt - August Bank Holiday Weekend

Come join us at the Greenbelt Festival over at the Cheltenham Racecourse from 25th till 28th August!! Its a nice mix of the reverant and the irreverant, lots of good music and interesting talks from speakers, as well as general creative arts stuff too.

As an extra incentive (as if you really needed one), the Hanbury Club members will be down there in force. Ben Silvey will be working 'properly' as a rogue trouble shooter, whilst The Akin-Smiths and Colse are hoping for positions in the Organic Beer Tent!!

So come along for the entire weekend or just for the day - it'll be a laff!
